Rogers Sports & Media Flexes the Power of Local Radio, Earning More Than $800,000 for The Snowsuit Fund’s 50/50 Raffle

The Snowsuit Fund wrapped up its first ever 50/50 Raffle last week, achieving an astonishing $818,845 in ticket sales thanks to the caring Ottawa community and the tremendous promotional power of Rogers Sports & Media’s local radio stations, CHEZ 106 and KiSS 105.3. Jacob Adams of Kars, Ontario was the lucky winner of $409,423, as announced on the Biggs and Barr show on CHEZ 106. With the impressive fundraising tally, snowsuits will be purchased for more than 8,000 vulnerable Ottawa children. The raffle opened on November 29, 2021 with a guaranteed Jackpot of $9,999 that quickly grew to more than $800,000 with 3 million tickets sold.

“What our teams at CHEZ and KiSS have done over the past few weeks in support of The Snowsuit Fund is nothing short of amazing, and yet I can honestly say I’m not surprised,” said Alan Dark, Chief Revenue Officer at Rogers Sports & Media. “When it comes to connecting with people and engaging communities with local content that matters, there is still no better medium than radio, and nobody does local radio better than RSM.”

“This 50/50 was by far the biggest and most successful fundraiser we have ever done in our 28-year history with The Snowsuit Fund. We had the city buzzing and in the last 24 hours of the campaign alone we sold almost $350,000 in tickets” added Amanda Young, Promotions & Integrations Manager for Rogers Sports & Media in Ottawa. “The CHEZ and KiSS teams are total rock stars. They inspired and motivated listeners to give generously when it is needed most.”

According to a press release, The Snowsuit Fund distributes up to 16,000 new snowsuits to Ottawa children from low-income families every year. “Annually, Rogers radio stations create and champion fresh fundraising campaigns to support this beloved children’s charity. From an annual radiothon encouraging listeners to call in and pledge, to endorsing and selling custom label craft brews and last year’s 10K snowsuit text-to-give challenge, station commitment has been unwavering and proceeds have grown exponentially,” the release says.
