Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Returns to Toronto for the Princess Auto Players’ Championship, April 12-17

April 5, 2022 – Curling’s best are set to embark upon Toronto next week as the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling slides into the heart of Toronto for the Princess Auto Players’ Championship the third Grand Slam event of the season – from April 12-17. Exclusive television and streaming coverage of the crown jewel of the Grand Slam series begins Thursday, April 14 at Noon ET / 9 a.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN NOW.

Underneath the bright lights of the Mattamy Athletic Centre, the prestigious Princess Auto Players’ Championship will feature 16 top men’s and 16 elite women’s teams from around the world competing in the unique triple knockout format. Fans will be able to watch world-class Canadians like Olympic medallists Team Gushue and World Championship medallists Team Einarson battle for the title with domestic rivals in Ontario’s own Team Epping and Team Homan. Amongst the great Canadian teams, the Mattamy Athletic Centre will be hosting international stars like Sweden’s Team Edin and Hasselborg, and Great Britain’s Team Mouat and Muirhead.

All participating teams will contend for a combined $300,000 prize purse and a berth into the 2023 KIOTI Tractor Champions Cup. Full broadcast schedule and complete team lists can be found here.

Sportsnet Broadcast Team

Live from the heart of the action, Sportsnet’s expert curling commentators are set to deliver exclusive insight and analysis from Toronto. Play-by-play announcer Rob Faulds will be joined in the booth by celebrated Canadian Olympic medallists and curling analysts, Kevin Martin, Mike Harris, and Joan McCusker. Current Team Jones skip and 2014 Olympic gold medallist Jennifer Jones will also be returning to the booth for select broadcasts throughout the week.

Pinty’s Cup

The race for the 2021-22 Pinty’s Cup continues in Toronto. In the season-long battle between all men’s and women’s squads, teams compete to accumulate points according to their performances at each Grand Slam event. The men’s and women’s team that collects the highest total of points by the conclusion of the Princess Auto Players’ Championship will capture the winners’ share of the $100,000 Pinty’s Cup Bonus Pool and personalized championship rings to commemorate their win.

Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling competitors and Sportsnet curling commentators are available for phone and video conferencing interviews throughout the duration of the event.
