Throughout the day-long celebration, Sportsnet and Scotiabank will share powerful hockey stories with a focus on connections including:

  • Rick Bowness – his coaching journey traces back to Moncton, where he led the AHL’s Moncton Hawks. Returning home to build an expansion team from the ground up, Bowness instilled a culture of hard work and accountability that reflected the character of the Maritimes.
  • Brad Marchand – his rise from a scrappy winger to one of the NHL’s most recognizable leaders began in Moncton with the Wildcats’ run to the 2006 Memorial Cup final. That season united the city, helping shape the competitiveness that defines Marchand’s game today. It’s a connection that proves small, hardworking communities can build NHL All-Stars.
  • Moncton Wildcats Brass & Building – Gardiner MacDougall is the steady force behind the Moncton Wildcats, known for blending elite strategy with a commitment to player development. Under his leadership, the team has built a culture rooted in resilience, trust and family values. The feature visits MacDougall at the Wildcats’ home rink, the Avenir Centre, that connects heart and hockey for the team.
  • Blind Hockey – With a vision of growing blind hockey toward future Paralympic competition, the Moncton See Cats are connecting visually-impaired players together through sport. Led by trailblazer Simon Richard, the group emphasizes communication, inclusion and competition at every level as a powerful example of hockey’s ability to connect and adapt.
